I picked this quote because it is a perfect Harry quote. He is so sarcastic, yet it is true most of the time. I relate to this quote a lot, so I thought it'd be a good one for this week.

I chose this quote for two reasons; the first, because I love Peeves. I wish that he had more roles in the books and especially in the movies. It would've been a fun addition for the non-readers to see this wacky poltergeist. This has to be my second favorite quote about Peeves. The other one comes from OotP, and I'm sure everyone knows what that is. The other reason that I chose this quote was because I was very Peeves-ish this week. I did my fair share of pranking and practical joking this week on my softball coach. It was awesome, and I thought that this would be a suitable choice.

Ah, the first book. This was Dumbledore's first post-trauma speech with Harry. This quote above all shows why he was so well loved, and so good at what he did. He understood his students. Somehow his honesty makes this speech so much more powerful. You wouldn't expect him to tell Harry this, but then again, why wouldn't he? It is one of the qualities that he shares with Luna: the power of honesty. As we see later, he isn't always honest, but here I find it interesting. I think that it somehow gave him some credibility, and it laid the foundation of such an interesting character.

This quote is hilarious. Poor Snape. Everyone hates him. I love all of the little Harry-Ron-Snape moments, because they mostly always involve something funny, or an awesome quote. It is the perfect example of the kids hating the teacher situation that I'm sure everyone is familiar with. Not to mention, there's sarcasm all around! That makes for good laughs, and a spot in my favorite quotes. :)

        Luna and Neville are somewhat pathetic characters, they truly are. But we see times, especially later in the series when they come into their own. In a way they are some more of JKR's red herrings; they seem weak and use, but in reality they are better than anyone else when it comes to being brave and doing what is right. This quote also reminds me of another quality that Luna has, her ability to point out the uncomfortable truth. She doesn't filter what she says the way that most others do. This is what often ostracizes her from the rest of society. She tells others about her beliefs or says things that makes them feel uncomfortable, as evidenced above. This quality gives Luna her uniqueness, her quirks. For most of us, it is what makes us love Luna.

This quote makes me laugh everytime I see it. I, too, am very afraid of spiders, and as a matter of fact, I chose it because I just had my sister kill a huge one in my room for me, and so I felt it was a perfect QOTW moment because it popped into my head. I've also almost wrecked twice when there were some in my car. Spiders stalk me, not kidding; they're everywhere. Anyway, back to what's important- As we've mentioned before, Ron is one of the best characters for humerous quotes. His character has the kind of bluntly sarcastic remarks that I use, so it makes them more enjoyable. I love his remarks on serious things like this. Awesome Ron moments.

I have to admit that of all the characters I identify with Hermione the most. This quote screams Hermione. Not only does it draw out attention to her physical features, i.e. her characteristic bushy hair. It also shows that side of Hermione that reminds us that she will do anything if she thinks it is right. It is that strength that blossomed within Hermione, and aided that transition from the insecure eleven year old to the character we find later in the series. Also I have to admit that I love this quote because she reminds of Mrs. Weasley here. So enjoy the quote, Paige and I both have a lot on our plate at the moment and we hope that soon we will be able to get back to some DoQ's.

I chose this quote because school (for me) is just around the corner. I only have 6 days of summer, and one more year to go, but I wish that I was done. Obviously, I'm not entirely all that excited to go back to school. I'd rather have more time sleeping than having to study. So, basically, this quote mirrors my emotions to school right now.

I always laugh when I read this quote and at others in the later chapters of this book that Fred and George make about their feelings of being at Hogwarts, especially when Umbridge is around. I've always sort of related to them. Being a Fred and George quote in itself is a reason why I picked it, but I think that others can relate to this quote as well.

     Luna is one of my favorite characters; I know, I have a lot of those. But I find her fascinating, she is a very deep person, she thinks on a plane above every other character. This may be my favorite Luna moment of all. You see a very down to earth understanding side of her, in this moment she even in a way recognizes her quirks and uses them to help Harry. You also get a little reminder of all of those odd things that Luna believes. For the last Luna moment of the series, this is great.

I find this quote both humerous and a bit serious. It is humerous obviously because Dumbledore is making a bit of a joke at himself, but it is serious because it is true. Dumbledore is not one to gloat or brag, but when he does, it is often humerous, like this one. He is completely brilliant, and I think that this quote suits him well. All of his little "aha!" moments that we encounter in the series show this quote to prove true as well.

So we are all aware of Ron's use as comic relief, and this statement definitely has some comic value. But once again we also see some bit of amazing truth behind it as well. It is interesting to think of death as a person, an actual figure, in the past I have talked about how Rowling does this with a lot of things. But then to think about him using an invisibility cloak that way he can kill people without warning. The different ways that death presents itself. Sometimes it is fast, sometimes slow, expected, or sudden, etc. This quote is a bit thought provoking, as well as causing a few giggles. This has always been one of my favorite lines out of DH. It has a pleasant combination of insight and humor that Ron always seems to bring to the table.

This is one of my favorite Weasley twin quotes. This is at Christmas and they are discussing the sweaters that Mrs. Weasley made. Fred and George are hilarious characters and it's moments like this that show their sense of humor.

A Slightly Late Quote of the Week

"We did it, we bashed them wee Potter's the one, and Voldy's gone moldy, so now let's have fun!"

      What a great quote, eh? So I choose this quote because as Ron says "Really gives a feeling for the scope and tragedy of the thing, doesn't it?" This quote is not only humorous, but a great way to sum up the end of Deathly Hallows. Unfortunately it wasn't in the movie, but I guess we can't have everything. So, this quote is another prime example of JKR's comic relief. After a terrible battle, a death and resurrection, as well as a battle to the death; this laugh was nice. Well have a great week, I hope you are coping well with the grief of the end of the movie series, Paige and I are working on some new things which should come out soon..

The Weasley Twins: great jokesters. This quote (if you don't recognize it) is from their radio show in Deathly Hallows. They are able to provide accurate information to listeners, but also add in a bit of humor. This is a breath of fresh air for the trio while they are on the run. Sorry this is short, but I am also working of a few other pieces that will come out in the next few days, so enjoy the quote.

I love this quote. It is one of my favorite quotes. Hermione is one of my favorite characters, and she says this to Ron when they are discussing Harry's 'encounter' with Cho. Ron makes the comment "One person can't feel all that, they'd explode!" Hermione is trying to point out to Ron that he is insensitive to other people; especially when it comes to emotions. I love it, because she is making a snarky comment towards her feelings as well.

Ah, the wonderful humor of JKR. The quotes that I usually choose are rather serious and important pieces of advice. But this week I decided that we needed to represent the other side of the series. Does this quote do much to further the plot or conflict of the novels? No, but it does provide comic relief. In novels packed with heavy themes and suspense, it is nice to have some playful moments. JKR is just as adept at writing humor as she is drama, and I have to say that the odd mixture of the two is part of what makes the novels so entertaining.

I love this quote because it shows the underlying character of Dumbledore that Harry fails to see. He thinks that Dumbledore is a genius, the best guy in the world, and that he is flawless. He is shrouded by his admiration to see Dumbledore's faults, and had to deal with them the hard way once he died. This quote shows that Dumbledore had flaws and admitted them, though maybe not to fully listening ears. Everyone thought that Dumbledore was a great man- which he completely was- but without his mistakes.
JKR shows us that even the greatest of people can make mistakes, and its hard to find a 'perfect person'.

Quote: Dumbledore Being Wise, He Does That

Dumbledore may be one of my favorite characters of all time. I know he is one of the wisest. He has an amazing ability to make incredibly complex things seem simple. The relationship between a tyrant and his subjects is very complicated, but Dumbledore has the power to tell us so much about it, in a way that is so easy to understand. I love this quote, it shows so much of Dumbledore's character and of the Harry Potter series. It shows Dumbledore's wisdom and amazing ability to teach tough lessons. But it also tells a lot about the books in general, in many ways it sums up the series as a whole. The overthrow of a tyrant, the oppression, and most importantly the sowing of a tyrants downfall in the place he leasts expects it, the people. For some reason this quote not only resonates with my in the real world, but also in the world of Harry Potter. Put simply Dumbledore is a wise, wise man.

It's Friday; time for Quote of the Week!


"If I may speak, Headmaster, Potter and his friends may simply have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Snape, COS 143

I picked this quote because I think it is a perfect summation of many happenings in the novels. It seems that the trio are always caught up in something. It is both humorous and extremely appropriate for the trio. It is one of my favorite quotes, especially since Snape is one of my favorite characters and I thoroughly enjoy the Snape-hates-Harry moments. This quote isn’t particularly strong, important or contain a motif or message behind it really, but I love the simple way that she puts things sometimes.
Sorry for the overly simple quote, but in light of my current reading assignment over Chamber of Secrets, I came across it and thought it would be a slightly quirky addition to the blog. Stay tuned for the commentary over the Chamber of Secrets, which I should be posting next week.

I love this line. It shows so much of Dumbledore's character. You see simultaneously the funny, light hearted side of him; yet he is completely in control. He is able to wield power and still have a sense of humor. In case you don't remember this is when Dumbledore pays a visit to the Dursleys. I love the entire scene because it is very evident that Dumbledore is having fun and bullying the bullies at the same time. Well leave a comment if you have anything else you would like to add.
